Risk Assessment

We all know the dangers of bad posture, how it can damage your spine and leave you with difficulties walking. In fact we are so concerned about how we treat our spines that office workers are subjected to rigorous evaluations of their working spaces, how their chair is set up, how far away their keyboard is and how their monitor is tilted. Manual workers are subject to the same precautions, they are given instructions on how to lift items, how to use tools and given lots of safety equipment to help them complete these tasks. But it seems that the same precautions we use throughout the day on a regular basis are ignored as soon as we settle down for the night. Sleep is one of the most important parts of the day; for our body it is a time for rejuvenation where cells are replaced and the body heals from the rigours of the day. Sleep is also important for the mind, it lets it process the overload of information it has been subjected to that day and get rid of anything it doesn’t need – some claim that dreams are the brains way of processing the information it couldn’t make sense of during the day. However, if your mattress is not up to standard, is old or lumpy with coils sticking out sleep can often elude you. If we had to do a risk assessment of our mattresses how many would actually be satisfactory? A bad mattress can not only interrupt your sleep leaving you feeling tired and groggy the next day, it can also cause damage to your spine. Any lumps and bumps can hurt your posture and force your spine in to awkward positions. The memory foam mattress with its advanced technology moulds around your body, rather than moulding your body around it. Meaning that your spine is allowed to straighten and stretch out in a way that any risk assessor would be proud of. So after spending all day looking after your posture why not do the same at night and give your body a great night sleep with a memory foam product.
